Beara Sunset
The sun sets as the waves crash against one of the many staggeringly beautiful spots along the rugged, ancient, and untamed Beara Peninsula located on southwest coast of Ireland, carved by the movement of ancient glaciers. The Beara Peninsula is bounded by the Kenmare River to the north and Bantry Bay to the south.
There is evidence of human activity on the Beara Peninsula dating from at least 3000 BC. It was later invaded by Vikings, and in the 17th century became a defensive position for the English Army against French invasion. The population of the peninsula peaked at around 39,000 before the Great Famine, while today there are fewer than 6000 people who live in the area. The Beara Peninsula contains a long and varied scenic coast and forms part of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Beara Bowl was awarded an Honorable Mention in the Nature - Sunset category in the 2020 Moscow International Foto Awards
