Tangaroa
Traditional Polynesian culture believe that whales are creatures of both darkness and light, they belong to both the divine and physical worlds. In Tahiti, the whale is believed to be the animal form of the ocean god Tangaroa. Beaches where whale carcasses washed up were considered especially sacred and guarded by both the royalty and priests.
Tangaroa was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Nature - Underwater category in the 2019 Budapest International Foto Awards
